II. Improvement of legislation in the field of intellectual property

Introduction of the following amendments and additions to legislative acts, providing mechanisms for reliable legal protection of intellectual property rights:

Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Liability - inclusion of norms establishing liability for violation of rights to geographical indications;

Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Inventions, Utility Models and Industrial Designs", "On Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin of Goods", "On Company Names" and "On Plant Varities and Animal Breeds" - introduction of the procedure for recovery of compensation from twenty-fold to one thousandth of the basic calculation value instead of damages, regardless of the fact of causing losses to the owners of intellectual property objects, taking into account the specifics of the offense and the degree of guilt of the offender.

Increase exports of domestic products to world markets under the brand "Made in Uzbekistan" by supporting the creation of regional brands in the regions.

At the same time, special attention should be paid to:

Identifying and ensuring, in accordance with the established procedure, national and international registration of appellations of origin of promising goods and their geographical indications in their territories by local public authorities;

opening trade houses of domestic business entities manufacturing and producing products with geographical indications that have gained high prestige abroad;

conducting presentations and advertising campaigns to promote domestic products under the "Made in Uzbekistan" brand with the appellation of origin of goods and geographical indications to foreign markets;
