between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Malta
On mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports

The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Malta, hereinafter referred to as separately as “the Party” and jointly as “the Parties”,
Guided by the desire to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Malta,
In accordance with the principles of equality and reciprocity,
Desiring to simplify the travel conditions for the nationals of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Malta, who are holders of valid diplomatic passports,
Have agreed as follows:
Article 1
WAIVER OF VISA REQUIREMENTS
WAIVER OF VISA REQUIREMENTS
1.1. The nationals holding valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party shall enter in, exit from, transit through and temporarily stay in the territory of the State of the other Party without visas for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days within six (6) months from the date of entry into the territory of the State of that Party.
1.2. The nationals holding valid diplomatic passports of the State of one Party, who intend to enter the territory of the State of the other Party for a period longer than the period provided for in the paragraph 1.1. of this Article shall obtain a visa to enter the territory of the State of this Party.
Article 2
ACCREDITED DIPLOMATIC STAFF

2.1. In case either Party appoints any of its nationals holding valid diplomatic passport to its diplomatic missions and consular posts or international organizations in the territory of the State of the other Party, it shall notify the other Party of this appointment upon the appointeeʼs arrival in the territory of the State of the other Party.
2.2. Upon arrival in the territory of the State of the other Party, the persons referred to in paragraph 2.1. of this Article shall be accredited within thirty (30) days at the request of the relevant diplomatic mission and consular posts or international organizations and in accordance with the laws of the State of the receiving Party.
2.3. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party who are accredited to the diplomatic missions or consular posts of that Party or international organizations in the territory of the State of the other Party shall be exempted from visa requirements to enter in, exit from, transit through or stay in the territory of the State of the other Party for the entire period of their accreditation.
2.4. Conditions stipulated in paragraph 2.3. of this Article are applicable also to the spouse, minor children and dependent parents of the official of diplomatic mission, consular post or international organization, accredited in the territory of the State of the other Party provided they are holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of the other Party.
Article 3
LOSS OR DAMAGE OF DIPLOMATIC PASSPORTS
LOSS OR DAMAGE OF DIPLOMATIC PASSPORTS
3.1. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party, in case of loss or damage of passports in the territory of the State of the other Party, shall immediately inform the diplomatic mission or consular post of their own State, which shall notify the concerned authorities of the receiving State to take appropriate measures.
3.2. In return for the lost or damaged document, the diplomatic mission or consular post of the State of the Party concerned shall issue a new diplomatic passport or other travel document, temporarily replacing the lost passport.
Article 4

4.1. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party shall cross the border of the State of other Party only through border points open to international passenger traffic in accordance with the legislation of the State of that Party.
4.2. The competent authorities of both Parties shall duly inform each other, through diplomatic channels, in the event of any changes in their laws and regulations concerning the entry, exit and temporary stay of foreign citizens.

COMPLIANCE WITH NATIONAL LAWS
COMPLIANCE WITH NATIONAL LAWS
5.1. The competent authorities of the State of either Party reserve the right to refuse the holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of the other Party, whose presence they deem undesirable, to enter or shorten their stay in the territory of that State.
5.2. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of one Party, as well as members of their immediate families, during their stay in the territory of the State of the other Party are obliged to respect the legislation of that State.

SUSPENSION OF AGREEMENT
SUSPENSION OF AGREEMENT
6.1. Each Party, in case of the need to ensure public order, protection of state security or public health, may fully or partially suspend the application of this Agreement. The suspension, together with the reasons for such suspension, shall be conveyed in writing via diplomatic channels to the Party concerned and shall take effect immediately upon receipt of that written notification by the other Party.
6.2. The Party that has decided to apply the measures provided for by paragraph 6.1. of this Article shall immediately notify the other Party in writing of the cancellation of the indicated measures and the resumption of the application of this Agreement.

NOTIFICATION OF RELEVANT DOCUMENTS
NOTIFICATION OF RELEVANT DOCUMENTS
7.1. The competent authorities of the States of the Parties shall exchange through diplomatic channels the specimens of the diplomatic passports as well as a detailed description of such documents no later than thirty (30) days from the date of entry into force of this Agreement.
7.2. If within the validity of the present Agreement the competent authorities of the States of the Parties change diplomatic passports or make amendments to them, this Party shall notify through diplomatic channels the other Party no later than thirty (30) days prior to the entry into force of the said changes and at the same time transmit to the competent authorities of the State of the other Party the specimens of new passports as well as their detailed description.
Article 8
SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES
SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES
Any dispute or difference occurring between the Parties, and which arises from the interpretation, implementation, or application of this Agreement, shall be resolved amicably through consultations and negotiations between the Parties through diplomatic channels, without reference to any third party or international tribunal.
Article 9
AMENDMENTS TO AGREEMENT
AMENDMENTS TO AGREEMENT
9.1. Any amendments which are made to this Agreement must be discussed, negotiated and agreed upon by the Parties, with this being done through written and mutual consent, and via exchanges through diplomatic channels.
9.2. Such amendments shall form an integral part of this Agreement and shall enter into force in accordance with Article 10 of this Agreement.

ENTRY INTO FORCE, DURATION AND TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT
ENTRY INTO FORCE, DURATION AND TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT
10.1. This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and shall enter into force thirty (30) days after the date of receipt of the last written notice through diplomatic channels on the completion of internal state procedures by the Parties required for its entry into force.
10.2. Each Party may terminate this Agreement upon sending the other Party written notification by diplomatic channels. In such event, this Agreement shall expire after thirty (30) days from the date the other Party receives the notification of termination.
Done at Tashkent, on 23 January 2025, in two originals, each in the Uzbek and English languages, all texts being equally authentic.
In case of any divergence in the interpretation of the provisions of this Agreement, the English text shall prevail.
